John Dinning is executive vice president and chief business officer for Teradata, reporting to Vic Lund. In this role, John is responsible for leading strategy and marketing for the company. John most recently led the company’s business transformation strategy and direction, and will continue to oversee the action plans to move the organization forward.
Prior to assuming this role, he was responsible for product management and marketing for the Teradata Database, Teradata Aster, Apache™ Hadoop®, hardware platforms, Teradata Unified Data Architecture™ middleware, and tools and utilities, in addition to the Teradata Cloud business.
In his previous role as vice president of corporate development, John was responsible for Teradata’s overall corporate strategy and mergers and acquisitions. Over this time, Teradata broadened its focus by introducing the Teradata Workload Specific Platform Family, as well as completing multiple acquisitions, including the purchase of Aster Data®, which positioned Teradata to go after the big data Analytics market opportunity.
Prior to holding this post, Dinning was vice president, horizontal solutions and global alliances, which included the marketing and business development around Teradata’s customer management, finance and performance management, and demand and supply chain solutions, as well as leadership of Teradata’s global alliances organization. Dinning joined Teradata in 2000 as a result of the acquisition of campaign management start-up Ceres Integration Solutions where he was responsible for marketing, product management, and software quality engineering.
John has also held management positions in finance, sales, and professional services. Additionally, through his management consulting background, Dinning has been engaged in several new product/business development opportunities, organization change, and technology introduction projects across several industries including telecommunications, retail, media and entertainment, and transportation.
John is a graduate of the Ivey School of Business with an Honors Business Administration degree, in London, Ontario, Canada and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
